Bug Description

I'm running an Averatec 3715-EH1 laptop with an AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU and a VIA integrated motherboard. After I came out of suspend the last time, my fan was not working. Luckily, I realized it at 93 degrees Celcius and rebooted. When I come out of suspend, the fan goes full speed for about 30 seconds with a blank screen, then the fan cuts off and the computer resumes (but with no fan, apparently). So far, fan is working fine with hibernate and normal boots.

Kindly test it with the Dapper Flight 5 release and attach your /var/log/messages here. Reopen the bug if it still exists in Flight 5. Thanks a lot for the bug report :)

Stangely, it's the same problem reported in 35455 (maybe this one is a dup?)

ok, a new kernel package is out...please, try to upgrade to kernel 2.6.15-22 because it includes an important feature (threaded acpi support) which (hopely) can fix this bug!

post your report here as soon as possible!

If it is fixed with the latest flight, then this is a dupe of bug 35455.

Absolutely yes...but we are waiting for the bug reporter (or anyone who has an Averatec 3715-EH1) to test it.

I have this exact model (expanded to 2Gb), and it just suspended/resumed properly = my fan is on.

I've had some wierdness in startup and hibernation, but that might just be the lack of feedback so I might have not waited long enough.

Closing after no word from the reporter in several months. Please reply or reopen if this is still a problem.
