Bug Description

PNG images in /help/C/figures take too much space (more than 5 MB now !)

It's pretty strange problem - it seems png images in help are not compressed, because simple opening these images with gimp or gthumb and then saving (with the same name) reduces size of images more then 6 times (for example I saved main-view-monitor-update.png and its size reduces from 470kb to 67kb!)

You can use pngcrush utility for reducing .png size without losing any info in .png files :) I've reduced size of all images about 8 times (to ~680kb) with simple command:

pngcrush -d recompressed_figures/ help/C/figures/*.png

Btw, why help is not builded in update-manager from Ubuntu dapper?

Thanks for your bugreport.

The images are better compressed now. About the lack of building the documentation. There are two problems here:
a) it's not updated to the current codebase (not too much changes but some minor ones)
b) the new python-build system needs to be adjusted to actually build the documentation as well (patches welcome :)

Cheers,
 Michael
