Bug Description

Binary package hint: partimage

I just tried to save the first primary partitition /dev/sda1 which is formatted ntfs and 8GB in size.

Additional information:

1. I did not select 'check partitition prior to backup'

2. Hardy brings version 0.6.4 which crashes, Lenny contains v0.6.7 which works fine.

tried with installing the Debian-Lenny 'partimage_0.6.7-1_amd64.deb' in Hardy:
all works smoothly.

As it is essentially only one file, the binary /usr/sbin/partimage and all dependencies are fulfilled, I consider this a good fix.

Just put said Debian version to updates solves all.

I confirm that http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19817268/partimage_0.6.7-1_amd64.deb appears to do what it should on my AMD Turion x2 running Intrepid-64 bit.

It splits NTFS partitions into the size files I specify (4+GB to fit on a DVD). The GUI burner SW seems to choke on the resulting images, but the command-line dvdrecord seems to work on them.

I have not yet confirmed that I can restore from these.

I cannot judge on Intrepid, but since Hardy 8.04.2 Ubuntu has silently upgraded to partimage 0.6.7-1 and all is ok now.
I also can confirm restore of a NTFS partition went smoothly.
