Thanks for your report.

The installation has failed because the previous upgrade session has been abruptly aborted.

I recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 (installed within Windows XP) on an Asus Eee PC 1000 (10/30mb SSD, 1mb RAM). Opening Update Manager showed 301 updates available (278mb) and when proceeding gave exactly the above error messages.

Having consulted Keir Thomas' Pocket Guide & Reference (I am a complete Linux virgin, but happy with the old CPM & DOS command line), I manually ran:

sudo dkpg --configure -a

(working out the need for the sudo command took me a while !)

It worked and all the updates appear to have downloaded & installed successfully.
