Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

event occurred when upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 on an IBM thinkpad R#! 2656-1GU with 660MB memory.

 The error showed up once I restarted after installing the upgrade

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, the files attached to this report are truncated and there is no evidence of what has failed. Could you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade to this bug report?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thank you but you've only attached 1 log file. The directory /var/log/dist-upgrade/ must should contains at least 3 files. Could you please attach all the files in this directory . Thanks in advance.

My update to the latest version failed as wel (Ubuntu Jaunty x86_64) due to a minor error in the initscript. I fixed it as following:

edit the init.d script:
~# sudo nano +45 /etc/init.d/hotkey-setup

At line 45 (blank) type 'fi' to make it look like this:

case "$1" in
    start)

# This entire block does nothing on desktops right now
    if laptop-detect; then
        do_video
    fi

    ;;
    restart|force-reload)
    $0 stop || true
    $0 start
    ;;
esac

exit 0
==================================

Hit CTRL-O and CTRL-X to save and exit, type
~# apt-get update
to finish the install
