Bug Description
Xubuntu 8.10, all updates applied.
After the screen saver has initialized and I come back from being away, the screen brightness is dimmed considerably. Xbacklight doesn't work and fn+right arrow is buggy.
Fn+right arrow which controls screen brightness on my laptop does not work properly, if repeatedly tapping the right arrow (fast) it seems to get confused and the brightness goes up and down fast in succession. It does work if done slowly. If I hold down fn+right arrow the brightness does go to full light. No screen representation when using the function keys like in Gnome.
xbacklight works fine after I manually put the screen at highest brightness slowly tapping fn+rightarrow.
I don't know of this is one bug or two (or more) but at least here is the base report.
Expected results:
1. Screensaver should un-dim the screen after it ends.
2. Fn key combo should not be picky as to how fast you tap the keys.
3. Xbacklight should work, it works right in Ubuntu 8.04LTS.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 7720 (not gamer edition)
Intel 965GM
2Gig DDR2 ram
250Gig HDD
