Bug Description
Binary package hint: knetworkmanager
In freshly installed Kubuntu 8.10, I configured KNetworkManager to join my WLAN automatically. As I understand every time I start my Kubuntu it should now establish a connection to that WLAN automatically? But instead it does nothing!
KNetworkManager was kind enough to add this network to the list though, but I must always select it manually.
My WLAN doesn't announce itself. Is that the problem? Should there then be an additional checkbox that "Connect even when network not present"?
Also it always seems to show only 2 bars on the tray icon. I beg to disagree, second time I tried I was nearly glued on my WLAN box. And only 2 bars? C'mon!

I have exactly the same problem and it is quite annoying. If i set-up the computer for people who does not handle the computers so well it is hard to explain that in this nice new version have explicitly connect the network....
The wifi signal is stable and when it is selected manually it always connect.
The AP is set to not advertise the ESSID - so the network is hidden on iwlist scanning, however the profile should try out if it is there is no network currently connected and this wi-fi network is set up to auto-connect (it worked well before, in the kde-3 version of knetworkmanager).
