Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Music files played with rhythmbox sound real bad. This does not happen when the same file is played with vlc, gnome player or mplayer!
This situation is reproducible all the time and happens with any sound files mp3, ogg, m4a etc.
I am on Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10, my rhythmbox version is 0.11.6.

Note that I never had this problem with the previous versions of ubuntu on this machine (7.04 -> 8.04)...

Thanks for your interest/.

thanks for the report, are you using the crossfading backend? does it happens without it? what's gnome-player? totem? do you get the same if you play the file with: gst-launch playbin uri=file:///directory/file ? thanks.

do you get the issue on any audio file or only on a specific one?

do you use the crossfading option? do you have pulseaudio running?

For your question about Pulseaudio, I am way too lost with sound
configuration to be sure about my answer.
If you have a command I can run on the terminal to answer your question,
I would be glad to do it...

sound.

I opened 'system monitor' and pulseaudio is shown in the running processes.

could you stop pulseaudio and see if that makes a difference?

Only in rhythmbox and nothing else I have. For instance flash player
(nonfree), banshee, vlc etc : all have fine sound

I don't have totem anymore but I remember trying before and it had no
sound problems.
With the comand line, it works just fine!

you should open the bug on bugzilla.gnome.org where the people writting rhythmbox will read it

I tried to but my problem wasn't precise enough and there was too many
similar problems for me to be sure I would not create a duplicate bug
report.

closing since bug too for the same reason then, you can reopen if you still get the issue and have details on it though
