Bug Description

Ubuntu 8.10 32-bit version, clean install:

some of the multimedia keys (above the normal keys) and parts of the remote control on my HP laptop have stopped working in Ubuntu 8.10 whereas they used to work tip top in Ubuntu 7.04, 7.10 and 8.04.

Namely the "QuickPlay" button (the leftmost one; above F3 and F4) and the "DVD" button (above F4 and F5) don't seem to be doing anything anymore. The program "xev" doesn't even register that those keys are getting pressed.

This used to work tip top in Ubuntu 8.04 :(

I can confirm this problem using Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit on an HP Pavilion DV6700z. All touch sensitive buttons work except for "DVD" and "QuickPlay". Related, all buttons on the included remote control are functioning with the exception of "DVD", "QuickPlay", and "Windows Logo" (Super key). Nothing I tried recognize the keypress or release (xev, showkey -s, showkey -d, dmesg) while running in runlevel 3 or 5 (Console and GUI).
