Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

I tried to play a protected DVD (Lord of the rings, extended edition), and vlc crashed. To get more information, I tried to run it from command line with vlc dvd://, and it crashed too. I know it is not a problem with the dvd or with libccs or libdvd since the DVD plays correctly in either gxine or "Movie Player" (I suppose this is totem ?). I have hardy.

Here is the output when running from command line.

mboisson@HTPC:~$ vlc dvd://

There have been a large number of bugfixes with the latest VLC release, 1.0.0~rc2-1ubuntu1. Can you reproduce your issue with this latest version? You can test this in Ubuntu Karmic, or Ubuntu Jaunty with the MOTU Media PPA at https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa . Thanks in advance.
