Bug Description

Upon starting GNOME a popup dialogue suggests permissions are incorrectly set on /dev/pmu (used on Apple machines).

Running up-to-date breezy (PPC) on an iBook G4.

$ ls -lah /dev/pmu
crw-rw---- 1 root root 10, 154 2006-01-27 00:49 /dev/pmu

That's the patch we used to ship with the package

The package patch has been dropped since I though the upstream one was enough but it needs to be updated it seems. That would be nice if somebody owning a ppc could figure what bit of the previous patch is still required. It works fine for me, but no wonder I'm using an i386 installation :)

   * Add debian/patches/25_powerpc_disable_pmu_access.patch:
     - Disable fblevel handling on powerpc. /dev/pmu is only accessible by
       root, which just produces a silly error message.
