After upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 there is no network connection anymore
forthermore the update manager could not be upgraded properly

Regarding the problem with your network connection, we can't start working on it yet, because your bug report didn't include enough information.

Could you please file a new report against the package "network-manager" and include the information requested at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingNetworkManager.
