Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox
Using linux 2.6.27-7/Kubuntu 8.10/KDE4.
Autocomplete (typeahead) doesn't work properly on the following dialog boxes, at least:
choose download folder
choose helper application
It does work properly on these dialog boxes, at least:
open file
By 'properly working' I mean that when I am typing and it finds a match, it highlights the remainder of the word and if I keep typing it OVERWRITES the highlighted portion. Improper behaviour is exhibited by auto-autocompleting the match (rather than highlighting it) so that rapid typing results in the wrong path, e.g. I start typing '/usr/bin/' to find a program to open some file with (another bug, another day) and it autocompletes the '/usr' as soon as I type the '/u' and so the 'sr' in '/usr' is used to autocomplete the next directory, namely 'src' so that I end up with '/usr/src' though I only ever typed '/usr'.
Hmmm. Strangely, this behaviour just disappeared as I went to get a screenshot, with no system changes or reboots. I'm going to submit the bug anyway in case someone else can figure this out. Perhaps opening a 'good' dialog ('open file') re-jiggered the internals?
On reboot, the bug returns and I haven't been able to make it 'go away' again. Another dialog in which it doesn't work:
"Another Application..." when looking for an application to open something from the Downloads window.
