Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub
I fired up my Intrepid installation today and the bootloader just showed me "GRUB _" as text on the screen. This is an indication that stage 2 failed to load I think. I haven't fiddled with GRUB, so somehow my Ubuntu system had hosed itself.
I was running Mac OS prior to this, but it didn't do any updates, and even if it did it wouldn't hose anything other than the BIOS MBR (which I believe holds stage 1), and that was apparently intact.
The repair was to boot a Live CD, run "sudo grub" and, in the grub shell, run "root (hdX,Y)", "setup (hdZ)" with your own values of X and Y and Z.
