Changing populated matrix's colums crashes lyx

Binary package hint: lyx

Way to reproduce:
insert a math environment(alt+m+m)
insert a matrix with \pmatrix
add a few rows with ctrl+enter(I added 2 so I got a 1x3 matrix)
type something in the topmost matrix item(I typed \cos t)
add a column to the matrix with alt+m+c+c and watch lyx crash

Version: Lyx 1.5.6, Ubuntu 8.10

Not reproducible on LyX 1.6.0-1 (Ubuntu Jaunty). Please also test yourself with LyX 1.6.0-1 and report if the bug still occurs. Bug 297941 is a backport request for LyX 1.6.0-1 to Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10.

Is there a guide to install LyX 1.6.0-1 on Ibex? The package I downloaded from the lyx homepage conflicts with LyX-Common.

I need LyX on a daily basis and wouldn't want it to break irrecoverably.

Press Alt-F2 and run: "gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list"

Temporarily add the line "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main universe restricted multiverse", save, and exit. Reload Synaptic and upgrade the LyX package only. Then remove the line you added (make sure to do so) from sources.list. Take caution to only upgrade LyX and LyX related package, not your entire system.

Hopefully the backport will be completed (Bug 297941) soon to make this unnecessary.
