performing upgrade install from 8.04 to 8.10 fails

Bug Description

First of all sorry for my lack of reporting skills. performing update over the internet as above failed at the last few steps. installing linunx kernel generic failed. I did choose the 3way merge experimental for the menu.lst file as machine is tri boot. seems to be problem with dependances. I can submit dist upgrade log file if of any use.
