Bug Description

I am an runing Kubuntu Intrepid on a Thinkpad R50e with all updates installed. The xserver keeps crashing in an unreproducable way. Sometimes immediately after login, sometimes I have 10 minutes, sometimes event 30. I can see which behaviour causes this. LSPCI is attached. Xorg-log is a bit complicated since a new log seems to be started after relogin.

Thank for your report but I cannot reproduce the crash and if you have no backtrace to debug your crash, I fear that the developers cannot do anything for you.

If you are able to reproduce the crash, can you try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and on http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/Details.
(install packages 'xserver-xorg-core-dbg' and 'gdb' and see here for backtrace https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace)

Marked as incomplete until we have a backtrace.

I like to provide a backtrace, but
a) the suggested method in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingXorg
is outdated, since there is now xorg.conf in the new Kubuntu. So how can I do it?
b) gdb itself crashes after start leaving the whole system unresponsive.

What may be related is the fact that from time to time I get the message: "A new monitor output has been connected. Do you wish to run a configuration tool to adjust the monitor setup?" even though I have a Laptop and so definited haven't connected/disconnected a monitor.

BTW: I still would like to provide those backtraces, if someone where able to help me with method a) oder another.

I have deactivated: "Detecting RANDR (monitor) changes"-service. Since then crashing has stopped, but there is still a problem. Every few minuites the elements on the screen disappear, turn black and then are rebuild. I guess my normal X.org- logfile is suitable to point to the source of the problem. But should I put it here or report another bug then?

It appears this my bug it a duplicate of #280434, since the solution suggested there works. After deactivating "Detecting RANDR (monitor) changes" and a reboot the flickering has also disappeared.
