Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I noticed that one of my podcast feeds switched from using 32 kbps feed to a 16 kbps feed, and the podcasts that are 16kbps skips for a half second, each second. The feed is mp3, in case that matters.

Using Intrepid Ibex, and everything is up to date.

It should be as simple as trying to play any 16 kbps mp3 file with Rhythmbox.

I checked other 16 kbps mp3s that I have, and all of them skip when playing that particular bitrate, which means the feed itself isn't broken.

By example, do you mean attach a particular mp3, or what?

Well I found a few mp3s that properly play at 16 kbps. Here's an attachment of it.

After a check of the problem, it may be whether the mp3 is mono verse stereo. All my mono MP3 seems to have skipping problems regardless of their kbps rates. Is there a way to fix this?

Oh, I was mistaken about the problem being mono verse stereo. After converting one of my problem mp3 file to stereo with Audacity, the skipping problem persisted. Next, I tried re-sampling the file to 16000 hz from something that was 112xx hz. That seemed to be the solution to the skipping problem. Is there away to adjust for the acceptable sampling rate?

the issue seems to be a gstreamer one and should be sent to bugzilla.gnome.org by somebody having the bug
