Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

I have just installed (Feb 13 2009) Ubuntu 8.10. Firefox needs to download Flash player. On installation this failed with the same "incorrect architecture i386" as above.

I just tonight 5/12/09 installed 9.04 LTS AMD 64/Vista Dual boot on a Toshiba Satellite A215 with Athalon x2 dual core, and when I tried to install the Adobe Flashplugin, the ERROR: Wrong architecture 'i386'. I did not see a specific download for a 64 bit vs 32 bit. Any suggestions would be sweet.

Thanks!

See following for workaround. 64 bit script install worked for Release 9.04 (jaunty) AMD.

Guys, you have 64bit systems, meaning Adobe doesn't officially support flash for your systems yet. Follow the link that Phil provided, and be sure to follow the 64bit instructions down near the bottom, not the 32bit instructions near the top.

You can also install the alpha 64bit plugin. IMHO it works better than that workaround. Here's instructions for that: http://www.64bitjungle.com/ubuntu/adobe-flash-player-10-alpha-for-64-bit-linux-ubuntu-installation/

Otherwise, http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/install-flash-10-ubuntu-linux-64bit.html is explicity for 64bit.

Marking the flashplugin-nonfree bug as Invalid, too.
