Bug Description

Upon upgrading from hoary to breezy, I received this error libofx20c102 was not removed before apt tried installing libofx2:

Unpacking libofx2 (from .../libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu2_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libofx.la', which is also in package libofx0c102
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

This problem is still present. On upgrading another machine on our
network, I receive:

Unpacking libofx2 (from .../libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu4_powerpc.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu4_powerpc.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libofx.a', which is also in package
libofx0c102
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

I do not see the "Replaces:" line in the control file.

is fixed in the latest upload of libofx

.la/.a files are now in the -dev and -dev package replaces libofx1, libofx1c102 libofx2..so you shouldn't have any problems anymore.

When attempting to upgrade to breezy, I still have the problem as of 2005-10-12 (I just did an update).

# apt-get -f install

returns this:

Unpacking libofx2 (from .../libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu8_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu8_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/share/libofx/dtd/opensp.dcl', which is also in package libofx0c102
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libofx2_1%3a0.8.0-3ubuntu8_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I am now unable to install or remove any package.

i just filed bug #4816 because i didn't see this bug. i've now marked #4816 as a duplicate.

However, this bug just bit me today, upgrading via http, so it really doesn't appear to be fixed in Breezy at all.
