When booting up or making changes in the system BIOS, the Logitech DiNovio Bluetooth keyboard is perfectly usable but once Ubuntu 8.1 loads to the login screen, it is necessary to use a wired keyboard to enter the login and password, then the Bluetooth keyboard works just fine once Ubuntu finishes booting up. Clearly Ubuntu is taking away a basic system function before returning it again with its own driver. This issue also existed in 8.04.
Also, after booting or reawakening the system from sleep, the mouse reverts to right-hand even though the settings remain for left-hand. The only way to get it straightened out is to set it to right-hand, save the changes, then set it back to left-hand operation every time. This problem did not appear to exist until 8.10.
With the same Bluetooth hardware, the screen on the separate MediaPad is useless and, as the keyboard itself has no Cap-Lock light, there needs to be some on-screen text to say so but it is not there. I see many postings on Linux and Ubuntu forums about this hardware so there is definitely a need to better software for it even if Logitech itself has fallen short in the Linux area. Applies to 8.04 and 8.10.
You reported multiple bugs in a single bug report. Anyway, the second point about the mouse reverting to right-handed operation appears to be a duplicate of bug 286314.
