Bug Description

"Since switching to the Broadcom proprietary WL driver for my BCM4312 (Dell XPS M1530), I've started seeing the following message repeatedly in my dmesg:

TKIP: RX tkey->key_idx=2 frame keyidx=1 priv=ffff8100d670a600"

From the forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=912074

I can also confirm this, I'm using a Dell Studio 15. Btw, is this the reason that wireless works half as fast compared to Vista?

This is not a dupe of #292450. That bug was about kernel panics. In this case, there is no panic and everything works fine, it's just these obnoxious messages filling up my dmesg and syslog. It is still present on Jaunty, running kernel 2.6.28-13.45.

Least. comprehensible. error. evar.

Anyway, yeah, I have the same spam occurring, in ubuntu jaunty, Dell studio 17.
It wouldn't really be an issue except that it appears to log a message approximately ever 2 or 3 seconds, after you've logged in. It would be nice to be able to eliminate that kind of message writing spam.

Confirmed on Karmic Koala 9.10. As workaround I disabled TKIP and started using AES, but this isn't a fix for wireless networks whose settings can't be changed.

It looks like to me that using AES gives better network performance than using TKIP, but I did no formal testing to confirm this.
