Reinstate the OpenID delegated identity on the profile page.

I've just tried to login to stack overflow (http://www.stackoverflow.com/) using the openID that I've always used for it (http://launchpad.net/~mez/)

However, it seems the URLs that Launchpad use are no longer the same, thus not allowing me to authenticate as myself anymore.

This means I can no longer access more than one account that I was using Launchpad as my openID provider for, espescially annoying as I can now no longer access the features that I'd earned through participation in Stack Overflow.

Looking at this, it doesn't seem like the URL change is the issue, I think it's actually due to (for some reason) removing the delegation from the user's page

No HTML headers relating to OpenID in the document thats for sure. Out of interest, where on LP can i read about its OpenID implementation and support if someone can link me please.

lp.net/~user now no longer delegates, so if trying to use it, it doesnt work as an actual URL, just forwards to the new URL, meaning the old one is no longer valid.

This undocumented/unsupported feature was removed as per bug 199069.

I just tested mine on http://openidenabled.com/resources/openid-test/diagnose-server/ and it is working

I should add that the test was done with id.lp.net/DDD/BUGabundo

the same test using lp.net/~BUGabundo fails, as is mentioned on bug 199069

We are actually reconsidering this decision... i'll post more news once we settle this decision.

Ok, the social aspect argument convinced us. We are adding back the delegated identity, and that would be the one and true way to log in a third-party using Launchpad OpenID.
