Bug Description

When I want to write a new journal, I click "New Journal" on the left up conner of kontact. And it always gives the same default date, e.g. 11/03/2008, and title, e.g. "Journal for 11/3/08", rather than today. It's confusion that it would work in this way... And everytime I have to edit the date manually as well as title...

I think it's not designed... Thanks!

This bug is still exist... And I notice if I checked "Record completed to-dos in journal entries", it would offer a title like:

Journal of Tuesday 06 January 2009
2009-01-06 10:09

Rather than default journal title. I think they should be unified.

Thanks.

I can confirm this bug on Kubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2rc1 packages installed. I'll attach a screenshot to illustrate. That entry was created today (18th January 2009) but shows a date of 12/01/2009

On karmic, the behaviour is a little different. On the good side, the completed TODO would be added to the today's journal automatically; but on the bad side:

1. There is no automatically generate title for "New Journal" button in the Journal view, so the title is empty.
2. The date in the journalEditor is still wrong, not today's date.

I've checked KDE's code, and 901467 is meant to fix this. http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revision&revision=901467

From the patch, it seems fine. But it only modify CalendarView::newJournal. Before that, seems KOEditorGeneralJournal::initTitle() and KOEditorGeneralJournal::initDate() already can't got the right value, and transfer the wrong value to newJournal. So the modification don't apply.
