Bug Description

On my Dell 1420n laptop, the "Stop" button is being registered as "Lower Audio" button in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" utility.

Additionally, only the Play/Pause button works to control Rhythmbox (Prev, Stop, and Next do not work).

All this worked in Hardy.

Hi aidave,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

On a Thinkpad after some recent update the volume down button gets interpreted as XF86AudioStop. It appears to be the same bug discussed in the forum above, and also http://digg.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_8_10_Intrepid_Ibex_Review?t=20258854 and http://www.nabble.com/hal-0.5.11-r1-and-keyboard-layout-and-input-issues-td19151047.html (+some likely dupes in launchpad)

Adding the following in xorg.conf fixed the problem for me:

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
EndSection

I wonder if this is related to bug #267682 bug #280646 and bug #217504 ...?

I'm not sure that this bug is duplicate of #300954.
Reasons:
1. All my multimedia keys have correct mappings in Keyboard Shortcuts (changing actions for them does not help, though).
2. After adding "AudoAddDevices" fix to xorg.conf the remaining multimedia keys stops working for me.

aidave,

Please have a look at <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting>. If you can follow the steps there, we should be able to pinpoint where this hotkey is going wrong for you.
