Bug Description

There should be a way to install the development release of Ubuntu in earlier releases of vm-builder. Eg, currently I am running Intrepid, so I can't install a Jaunty vm. It would be most useful if this could be done for arbitrarily earlier releases (eg installing 'khaki' (or whatever it will be called) on intrepid).

This is usually achieved by backporting the new vmbuilder for older release, either in PPAs, or in e.g. intrepid-backports. I don't think we can anticipate the needs of newer releases, and debootstrap needs to be updated anyway (i.e. we need a debootstrap backport).

Since this is more of a process improvement, perhaps you can suggest this on the ubuntu-server@ mailing-list instead of in a bug report?
