I'm not sure if it should go to -backports (instead of -updates, as SRU), since it fixes a quite severe bug in Boinc: bug 246205

This isn't the case for a backport workaround.
It IS a bug (bug 246205), and the software simply doesn't work for me (as I only use it for World Community Grid). It needs to be fixed in official repositories (i got the software from there, so it's fair the fix comes from there too).

I'm marking this as duplicate of bug 246205: the fix should go to intrepid-updates - a backport makes not much sense.
Also, it's enough to have one bug to track this issue.
