Bug Description

Hi everyone.
Unfortunately, I have another bug (my second) to report, and this one too is preventing completely my use of Ubuntu (or of ANY other UNIX-based OS).
I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xa 2528 (datasheet: http://sp.fujitsu-siemens.com/dmsp/d...xa_2528_29.pdf ) and every time I try to boot a LiveCD of any UNIX-based OS (I'm experimenting with BSD right now), or launching a clean installation. I get stuck always at the same point:

[xx.xxxxxx] ata1.00: status: { DRDY }
[xx.xxxxxx] ata1: soft resetting link
[xx.xxxxxx] ata1.00: configured for PIO3
[xx.xxxxxx] ata1: EH complete
[xx.xxxxxx] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
[xx.xxxxxx] ata1.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:24:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0 pio 36 in
cbd 12 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
res 40/0000000000/0000000000/00 Emask 0x4 (timeout)

I figured that the DVD-RW of my Notebook, a GSA-T120N, is somehow incompatible with the various Linux component managing it.
At first I thought it might be the nVidia SATA module, but the problem seems to concentrate on the DVD-RW.

As I already indicated here ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=916885&highlight=xa+2528 ) adding ANY option at the boot (like noapic, nolapic, all_generic_ide, workblastedmachine, etc) doesn't have any effect.
On a personal note, I'd really love to see the problem of mine solved, because I cannot stand Vista for much more, and I'd love to see it resolved WELL, because I do not like the idea of running Linux at a fraction of its potential because I have to strip it of every advanced future in order to have it working.

I thank you for the attention, apologize for any mistake in my English and hope to hear from you soon.

Grispa

PS: feel free to ask for clarifications at any time.
