Bug Description

When I connect to an IRC server, xchat-gnome doesn't connect to the channels in that server's list automatically. This appears to be new behaviour as on 0.9-0ubuntu1.

That works fine for me. What is the value of J= for that server to ~/.xchat2/servlist_.conf?

J=#chug,#uu,#sysutils,#grub,#debian-boot,#classpath,#bzr,#ubuntu-ports,#mlug

And with cat -A to make sure there's no specials in there:

N=00Home Servers$
I=jb-home$
U=jbailey$
R=Jeff Bailey$
P=$
J=#chug,#uu,#sysutils,#grub,#debian-boot,#classpath,#bzr,#ubuntu-ports,#mlug$
E=UTF-8 (Unicode)$
F=1$
D=0$
S=chat.freenode.net$

(I removed the B= line, it appears to be my nickserv password)

Is is working with xchat-gtk ?

I don't see a package in Ubuntu called `xchat-gtk'. However, if I install xchat 2.6.1-0ubuntu1, it works correctly in that package.

Tks,
Jeff Bailey

Yes it's that package.

Very strange this bug. Could you send us your ~/.xchat2/servlist_.conf please ?
(change your confidential infos of course)

Jeff Bailey (jbailey) wrote :

My servlist_.conf contains a large amount of information that I consider confidential right now. I will try to create a minimal one that causes the failure and get back to you.

(The confidential information includes hidden IRC servers, channels, channel passwords, and nickserv passwords)

Jeff, don't bother, it's easy to reproduce ... it happens when you don't autoconnect a server on startup but connect to it with the menu item after startup

I still see this behaviour (i.e., auto-join not working) in Dapper as of 7 March 2006.
