freeze on new message

Binary package hint: pidgin

Upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid and now Pidgin freezes everytime I receive a new message. Application isn't useful at all, so this is a serious issue.

I'll be glad to give you a full tracelog or whatever, in case you need it, just let me know how...

I think your problem is similar to mine posted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/guifications/+bug/293035

If you use the Guifications plugin 2.14 turn it off and use Libnotify Popups. That should help you.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if the problem was related to any of the plugins that I've disabled at that time, nor if the problem would persist in case I'd switch it back on. Anyway, currently Pidgin won't freeze, so I can't help you much. Thank you.
