Bug Description

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

Hello all

Ubuntu 8.10
Problem with Compiz?
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

My laptop has a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 wwith 128mb, i am using NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver, version 177
since i upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 i have been experiencing problems if i select advance desktop effects.
The main problem is that all applicacations lose their window border (see attachment). This looks quite random, but it happens most of the times when i pass the cursor over the border of a non maximised window.
This problem never happened in Ubuntu 8.04.
I tried unsuccessfully compiz --replace and all the others suggested in previous bug reports.

*** Update 20/11/08: reading around other comments i found out that this problem occurs when the Human Theme is selected and the graphic card is Nvidia. Selecting another theme eliminates the problem, so I guess it's a driver issue?

Same for me, nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300] (rev a1) video card.
Changing the human theme fixes the problem. I guess this is a theme bug?

This is what after fresh install of | Ubuntu 9.04 | Alpha 5 | 64-bit |
Then install NVIDIA X Server Setting and NVIDIA binaryX.org driver ('version 173')

Here is the reaction:

Pic four; In ANY case the Ubuntu appearance is not on [None], this is where EVERY window opens up without border.
