Bug Description

I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 and I get the brand new Evolution. When I start it, it remains hidden. Perhaps because of the 1 GB mail I started to POP-download. (Before I started POP-ping, it worked fine.)
When I run it from terminal, it says:

username@computername:~$ evolution
** (evolution:7036): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution %s
** (evolution:7036): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution

(evolution:7036): camel-WARNING **: Could not find key entry for word 'here were variations of letters and numbers': Sikerült

(evolution:7036): camel-WARNING **: Could not open converter for 'latin-1' to 'UTF-8' charset

(evolution:7036): camel-WARNING **: Could not find key entry for word 'here were variations of letters and numbers': Sikerült

And so on till I killall evolution. That's why I think it's downloading POP-mails, without GUI.

Thank you for your bug report, that's likely an upstream issue, could you open the bug on bugzilla.gnome.org too?

UPDATE: It is not a POP-problem, I switched off the POP feature in my mail-system on the web. It seems to be the problem with the new mail indexing system. I have 1,5 + 1 GB mails in two folders perhaps the new indexer cannot handle so huge amount.

Where shall I comment? Here or at gnome.org?

I'm pretty sure, the problem is about indexing huge mailboxes. Renaming ~/.evolution solves the problem: GUI appears as normal. I think, the indexer blocks the application window somehow.

Yes, it is indexer bug.

After starting, two file will be modified:
Inbox.ibex.index
Inbox.ibex.index.data

Removing them won't solve the problem.

Renaming Inbox solves the problem: appwindow appears.

At first run the program asked if I want to upgrade to the new indexer (or there were a dialog box of the new indexer), and it started indexing. At second run it didn't show the window.
