JVM dies on eclipse start: ExceptionMark destructor expects no pending exceptions

Bug Description

I've upgraded some eclipse plugins via the auto updater and now I can't open eclipse anymore. It opens and dies as soon as the regulat eclipse workspace is shown.

The reason seems to be a jvm problem.
