VLC 0.9.4 does not display "046d:08a9 Logitech, Inc. Notebook Deluxe" webcam properly

Bug Description
It seems that in my upgrade from hardy to intrepid, VLC was upgraded from 0.8.6 to 0.9.4. I can't seem to open capture device /dev/video0 which is a Logitech Notebook Deluxe webcam (USB ID: 046d:08a9). This webcam used to work in the previous version (0.8.6) and currently works in Skype and Ekiga.
