Bug Description
Im trying to connect to a WPA network using Intrepid, Network Manager, and and Intel 4965 wireless card. I could connect correctly using Hardy (upgraded to Intrepid today). I put in the WPA password, and it takes the password and both green dots light up which tells me the password is correct. after a long time of circling with both dots being lit, the connection attempt fails.
then i see two symptoms:
dmesg says "wlan0 (WE) : Wireless Event too big (342)"
editing the network manager setting for that wireless network and clicking on 'show password' shows a completely different password than what i entered. If i select that network again to connect to it, the connection fails right away and prompts for a new password, which tells me network manager is now using the incorrect, scrambled password.
Hi thanks for reporting your bug. I am unsure as to why you are unable to connect to the wireless network. Your scrambled password issue is a known bug see bug#239970 The correct passphrase is still getting sent to the wireless network. If you entered you password correctly originally this will not prevent you from connecting.
I was having trouble connecting to a wpa network when I switched to 8.10 and discovered it was because network manager misselected on of the settings (i needed PEAP instead of TLS or something similar. Try the other combinations or if you know how the network is set up make sure network-manager is selecting the appropriately.
