alien interference in udater?

Bug Description

I wanted to install the linux version of JMP in my computer and followed the instructions contained here: http://noronha.id.au/?p=30 , and installed alien in my Ubuintu 8.04. I tried to use the automatic updater and if failed in updtating the system. It seems that alien interefered in the ubuntu updater.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This is not related to alien but the way the java documentation is installed.
This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 85969, so it is being marked as such.
