Bug Description

I just installed Kubuntu-8.10 final version. If I log out KDE presents a dialog with a very flat moon (see attached screenshot). AFAIK the moon is still approximately a sphere. ;-)

Thank you for your bug report. So that we can better understand your report, please produce a mockup of what might improve the image to look more spherical.

I just fired up GIMP and draw a perfect circle around the moon. Maybe now you notice that according to the KDE logout dialog the moon is quite elliptical.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The moon icon does look very elliptical. I am marking this bug confirmed. Can you please post your monitor size and resolution. Thank you.

I am also experiencing this on two different computers using Kubuntu 8.10. One is a 1280x1024 res screen, and the other is 1920x1200 in a laptop.

Little hint: if I log in as root, the bug happens.
BUT, if I press CTRL-ALT-CANC (only as root) the shutdown dialog works perfectly...

Maybe it's not a bug, but a different personalization... I'd love to be able to find out I'm right!

This is not fixed. I still see this bug with Kubuntu 9-04 beta.

Test this for me: enable all desktop effects. Are you still experiencing the bug?

Unfortunately, I can not enable all desktop effects. I only get the following error message:
"Failed to activate desktop effects using the given configuration options. Settings will be reverted to their previous values. Check your X configuration. You may also consider changing advanced options, especially changing the compositing type."

mmm... I see... Do you use compiz or kwin? (If Compiz, switch to kwin and try to enable desktop effects).
Then, I suggest to try including this part in your xorg.conf:

Section "Extensions"
 Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

Hello. In my other bug report which was a dup of this (honestly I did search before filing a new bug) I have requested specifically the following:

It is (also) fixed in Koala, but I would like the fix to be backported to Jaunty.

So please can you see if this can be done? Thank you.
