I was running VLC 0.9.2 downloaded from VCL website previous to my upgrade from Hearty 8.04 to Intrepid 8.10.

Thanks for your report.
libvlccore0 should conflict with libvlc0 that have been obsoleted in Intrepid.
The workaround is to remove libvlc0 before installing the new version.
