kdiff3 is no longer packaged in intrepid

Binary package hint: kdiff3

kdiff3 was packaged in hardy. It'sused by many version control systems (e.g., mercurial) to get good merging support. These version control systems are much less useful without it (even with an inferior merge tool).

However, it seems to have been dropped from intrepid.

It should continue to be packaged.

Hi Joachim,
kdiff3 doesn't need KDE desktop (only kdelibs4c2a), I use it with vanilla Ubuntu (Gnome). BTW, it's the best merging tool, please add it :).

As others have already said, it's by far the best diff tool around...and it's been in the repository for the last few releases...and does not depend on a full KDE desktop...

In short:
sudo apt-get install kdelibs5-dev libkonq5-dev
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/utils/kdiff3 kdiff3
cd kdiff3
mkdir release
cd release
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=
make
sudo make install # or: "sudo checkinstall --fstrans=no" to be able to uninstall easily
