Bug Description
Binary package hint: nautilus
I use Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop (just upgraded from 8.04), packages involved in this are (AFAIK):
- nautilus 2.24.1
- gdebi-gtk 0.3.13
When I try to install a deb package on a remote filesystem by double clicking on it, the package installer fails and displays the message: You tried to install a file that does not (or no longer) exist.
Steps to reproduce:
- connect to a server using Places -> Connect to Server
- insert connection data (I tried two different protocols SSH and Samba)
- double click on deb package on remote filesystem
- insert password at gksu prompt
- package installer stops after a couple of seconds with a "File not found error"
I tried with two different deb packeges:
- crossover-
- crossover-
with the same results.
My guess is that the since the package installer runs as root, it's unable to access a filesystem mounted by a user. But I may be wrong.
Let me know if you need more details on this.
