sound server closed unexpectedly - live cd (sound still working)

Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64 desktop cd full release of 30 Oct 08 run as live cd.
Disc check with no errors.
Error that sound stopped unexpectedly and data automatically collected by system.
Check of sound preferences made and sound working correctly.
