Xournal does not refresh while drawing

Bug Description
Binary package hint: xournal
All other packages that use the tablet work fine. The line is indeed drawn, but it does not show up until the canvas is moved or resized. I like Xournal as a note-taking application, but this makes it unusable.
I have tried several combinations of preferences with no success.
