Hi! I also experienced this problem. I tried adding a new repository on two systems, and it worked on one of them, but not this one.

This repo:
deb http://www.csesoc.unsw.edu.au/pub/ubuntu intrepid main restricted universe multiverse
This key file:
http://www.csesoc.unsw.edu.au/pub/ubuntu/repository.sig

after adding, searching for csesoc didn't work. after rebooting, searching worked, but quick search still doesn't.

Thanks,
Jayen

Muhammad/Pedro,

I think it's pretty clear how to reproduce this bug.

For Quidam's scenario:
-install ubuntu 8.10
-run synaptic
-search for openocd
-there are no search results, when there should be one

For my scenario:
-add the above repository
-add the above key file
-quick search for csesoc
-there are no search results, when there should be two

Hi, Synaptic Package Manager's Search is broken, broken, broken.

I'm seeing something very similar. I wanted to search for "kget"

NO, repeat --->NO<--- result.

Even searching for the *incredibly* small string"kg" gets NO, repeat ===>>NO<<=== result.

It SHOULD get these 13 result --- at the VERY least --- and these are only picked from the package >>>NAME<<< ... *not* the DESCRIPTION:
-> kgamma
-> kgb
-> kgeography
-> kgeography-data
-> kget
-> kgmailnotifier
-> kgoldrunner
-> kgpg
-> kgrab
-> kgrab-kde4
-> kgraphviewer
-> kgrubeditor
-> kguitar

Absolutely reproducible. This is just he sort of thing that sends people off the deep-end, and into a commercially-purcha$ed Operating System.
