Bug Description

Binary package hint: mdadm

Starting from Ubuntu 8.10 is possible to boot a PC with a degraded RAID. User is prompted at boot to choose if he wants to boot anyway. If user set BOOT_DEGRADED=true in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/mdadm the system shouldn't ask anything to the user. I've set that option but I'm still prompted to choose what I want to do.
p.s: note that I've upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. Could this be a problem?

BOOT_DEGRADED=YES does actually not work in most cases because of Bug #251164 "boot impossible due to missing initramfs failure hook / event driven initramfs", see also https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReliableRaid

non working boot is covered in more detail by other reports

this may be due to forgotten "update-initramfs -u -k all"

the release note seems to be about a debconf misconfiguration because dpkg-reconfigure fixes it
