Icons do not change when changing icon theme

Most of icons do not change when changing icon theme.

This is for folder icons, icons of disk drives, icons of computer, home folder, network servers, trash, .exe files etc.

Some themes though, change more icons than others. For example, some themes change folder icons while others do not.

Not only in Nautilus affected: in other applications icons may change and may not, sometimes in Nautilus icons do not change while in other applications do. In gnome-appearance-settings in theme previews icons always displayed as it should be.

There is a workaround, the following commands executed in the theme folder:

cd ~/.icons/OSX/scalable/places/
ln -s gnome-fs-directory.png folder.png
ln -s gnome-fs-directory.png gtk-directory.png

But this works only for one theme and only for folder icon. There are no known workarounds for icons of devices for example.

All icons displayed correctly only under the following schemes:

* OpenSuSE 11 Industrial (all icons work well)
* Tangerine (all icons work well)
* Tango (all icons work well)
* Human (all icons work well)
* High contrast Inverse (all icons work well)
* Gartoon
* Dropline Neu!
* Gion (except Network Servers icon)

Folder icons displayed correctly, but device icons displayed from default theme:

* Jini*
* Crux
* Foxtrot
* Mist

The following schemes do not display correctly icons for folders, devices, computer, network, home folder:

* BlankOn
* ChaninDjoole
* Cherry-Soda
* Crystal
* Dropline Etiquette
* Dropline Neu
* Dropline Nuovo
* eXperience
* gperfection
* Humility
* Kreski Lines
* Noia Warm
* Office Yellow
* OldGnome
* OldNautilus
* QNX RTP
* Slik
* Snow Apple

* Suede (also help icon displayed incorrectly)

* Yasis (also under Hardy icon for .exe files displayed correctly, under Intrepid as dufault icon)

that's because those themes probably lack of those icons and they fallback to the default one you should fill a bug to the themes authors rather not to nautilus. thanks.

The themes HAVE those icons. For example ANY icon theme have its own icon for folder. But in most themes folders shows with defauld icons. Anyway, the themes are parts of Ubuntu and this means this bug belongs here. Maintainers need nothing more than simply creating missing simlinks.
