Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

When trying to install a package (cheese) using the Quick Search field, the package wasn't found. I had to click on the Search button and search through that "Find" dialog to actually find the package. If this is the intended functionality then the UI should be changed to provide some feedback / hint to that effect. The way it works now after searching I thought the package didn't exist.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Can you try typing in a terminal:
sudo update-apt-xapian-index

and then try the quick search again, does the cheese package appear now?
