What I have:
Logitech Communicate STX webcamera (Bus 003 Device 005: ID 046d:08d7 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate STX)
with Kubuntu 8.10 amd64. (2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:12:22 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
What works: module gspca_zc3xx being loaded, audio from webcam works, /dev/video0 being created.
What doesn't: video from webcam with skype.

It seems to be skype bug in video device selection list.
Set right device, press apply, then reopen dialog. Now press "Test" button and right device will be tested.
