Bug Description

After I upgraded to intrepid from hardy and rebooted, I got a truckload of error messages while booting. (See attachment). This is a normal data-cd containing a couple of videofiles. I viewed them last night in hardy without any problems, so I'm pretty sure the cd is ok. When I booted without the cd, I got no errors at all. When I inserted the cd after the system was up and running, I received thiese error messages;

"""
Could not mount The_CD_Label:

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
"""

This error pops up twice, and then I can use the cd without problems. This is just really annoying to me, but especially the boot messages seems really serious to a newbie.

Hi Jo,

Can you attach your full dmesg output which captures these boot up messages as well? I'd like to see what additional information may get logged.

Here you go. I have no idea what you're looking for, so I just packed them all together. Since then, though, I also had a problem with booting while I had an usb harddisk attached. I suspect that's the long list of Sense No Sence-messages? The cd-rom issue will be in the older log-files, I think.

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.

Since I installed Intrepid I'm experiencing the same problem when a mount a data-cd with a lot of photos. The drive starts reading all the files but no dialog is popping up. After half a minute or more a warning pops up: " Warning Buserror.org.freedesktop.DBUS.Error.NoReply : Did not receive a reply. Possible cause include: the remote application did not sent a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired or the network connection was broken."

After this warning which seems to be rather harmless, the files are shown in Nautilus and the cdrom-icom is shown on the desktop. It looks as if the reading of the photos (about 300, each of approx. 2 tot 3 MB in size) takes too long and generated a dbus-timeout. If I use a cdrom with fewer files, then I don't get this kind of warning.

I can get get rid of the timeout-message by altering the preferences of Nautilus. Preferences -> Media -> Don't scan the media (I don't know the right description of this flag in english). When inserting the media, I instantaneously get the media-icon on my desktop. In case this flag is on (by default?), then the medium is scanned and causing the timeout mentionned above.
