Bug Description

Fresh Kubuntu 8.10 installation in VmWare 6.5.0.

Per default it starts up with 800x600 - if i change it in KDE-Settings->Resolution, everything works as expected. After Restart it falls back to 800x600. BUT as soon as i open (but dont change anything) the Settings-Dialog it loads the previously saved values and goes also changes the actual resolution (without pressing apply or okay). But after Restart, it goes back to 800x600 again.

Same thing happens after installation of "open-vm-tools" (which, I think, actually does not work, but thats a other problem)

Second problem, but what may have the same cause: after the resolution get changed, the Shutdown/Logoff/...-Dialog looks as the attached picture (also in VmWare).

OS:
KDE 4.1 (from fresh installed Kubuntu 8.10)

sincerly
Daniel
