Bug Description
Binary package hint: knetworkmanager
Hi,
Ubuntu 8.04.1, up to date about every day.
I keep my laptop on for days, sometimes weeks. Until very recently this was unproblematic. In the last month or so I've had two long uptimes where network manager stopped working. Currently my uptime is 5 days 20 hours. What I see is a disconnected knetwork manager icon. I can right-click it and get the list of wireless networks, choose my network and then it goes to 28% and then shows "Connection Failure", "Could not connect to the network LWLB". This happens within 2-3 seconds. If dhclient was running it's dead at this point.
If I then in a root shell set the ESSID to LWLB and run dhclient eth1 manually I get online anyway. dhclient gets the dhcp lease right away. No delays.
"modprobe -rv ipw2200" and then reinstalling the module does not help.
It's as if network manager has lost touch with the device somehow.
Right now I can reproduce this at will - until I reboot my laptop. I can probably keep it on for some days or even weeks longer.
Regards,
Nicolai
This laptop is now broken and my new one does not use ipw2200 chipset. Suggest closing the bug, I will try so.
